The Silence

After the tragic loss of a family friend, The Silence addresses the complexity and contradictions of male identities. The project questions socio-cultural constructs around masculinity, like the idea that men must be strong and how mentally challenging it can be for them to sustain that. Focusing on a group of men, Cox’s work explores how masculinity and emotion changes with age, showing the innocence of a happy child in comparison to grown men who feel the need to hide their emotions.
